Back in September 2012 Smart released a pretty cool advert showing us two guys sharing a skateboard. The advert was designed to tell us that the Smart car is designed and built to accommodate two people with ease. The skateboarders themselves are world-class Kilian Martin and Alfredo Urbon. The song featured in the advert is ‘You Rascal You’ by Hanni El Khatib and can be watched by clicking here.

Reviewing The Smart fortwo Advert:
Cinematography: 5/5
The cinematography is superb, the slow motion effect really brings to life the skateboarders skill. Especially when you consider how hard it must have been for these two boarders to synchronise and pull of moves which individually they would pull off in a different way, unique to their individual styles. The camera work is also smooth which makes the advert enjoyable to watch. 5/5
Message: 3/5
The message of the advert is a little confused. Yes it’s a smart car, and yes there are two skateboarders. So what are they advertising? Skateboarding? Or the car? A greater emphasis on the Smart car is needed to clarify and makes the messaging of the advert better. For that I give it a 3/5.
Pace: 4/5
The pace of the advert is pretty good, however it needs to be just a little shorter and less use of the slow motion video to make the advert even better. 4/5
Sound: 5/5
The soundtrack used in the advert makes the whole advert really interesting and fun to watch. It really brings to life the skills and moves made by two world-class skateboarders on one board. 5/5
Overall: 4.25/5
